UU Forward Together is offering three opportunities to participate in a one-hour webinar (offered three times over the summer) to learn about the Love Resists campaign:
- Tuesday, June 18, 8:00 to 9:00 pm
- Tuesday, July 16, 8:00 to 9:00 pm
- Tuesday, August 20, 8:00 to 9:00 pm.
This workshop, led by Allison Mahaley (a member of the UU Congregation of Hillsborough, a social justice activist, and a recipient of a grant from the UU Service Committee’s Love Resists campaign for grassroots organizing) will introduce the Love Resists campaign, answer questions about how UUs in North Carolina can join the reistance and grow love as a response to hateful policies, and help even the smallest congregation make a huge difference in resisting the damage of local, state, and federal policies that target minorities.
Our UU faith calls us into covenantal relationships, not just between ourselves but in our world. How do we stand against divisiveness and hatred when we present fully committed to our own principles? In a time when white nationalism is on the rise, how do we find the courage to step out of our comfort zone, resist the urge to “go along to get along,” and create a community fueled by radical love?
Discerning ways to take our love and energy and commit to action in ways that lend support to movements led by targeted communities is the end goal. How do we, as majority white congregations, step into movements that people of color have been leading for centuries without perpetuating white supremacy?
These questions and more will be addressed with opportunities for question and answer.
You can join the webinar via your telephone (audio only), smart phone (audio and video), or computer (audio and video) using the Zoom audio/video conference software.
