Justice on Jones Street
“Justice on Jones Street” is UU Forward Together’s annual citizen lobbying and advocacy day at the North Carolina General Assembly in Raleigh.
On May 14, 2019, nineteen UU “citizen lobbyists” from Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill gathered at the UU Fellowship of Raleigh for UU Forward Together’s 2nd annual “Justice on Jones Street” Citizen Lobbying Day at the state legislature.
After listening to Rep. Marcia Morey (D Durham) talk to about some of the bills that have been introduced during the current legislative session and learning about the legislative process and tips for citizen lobbying, the group drove downtown to visit the offices of more than two dozen state legislators to talk about a wide range of justice issues, including gun safety, voting rights, health care, environmental protection, public education, and racial justice.
